Chemical Peels

At Atheda, we offer various types of medical grade chemical peels that are customized to each patient’s unique skin type and improve skin texture, fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, sun, and age spots as well as lead to a natural glow.

Human skin is continually exfoliating, shedding dead cells and replacing them; but it doesn’t always do so as fast as we’d like. That’s when treatments such as chemical peels can accelerate the process. Periodic peeling of the skin helps stimulate cellular activity and can be used for addressing a variety of skin issues.

Treated by licensed medical professionals.

 BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS

A course of multiple sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal and long-term results

How does it work?

Medical Grade Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The skin that grows back is smoother. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin, acne scars and many more. They can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. We usually use medical grade Salicylic Acid Peel, VI Peel, and SkinMedica Peels.

The Treatment

During your session, a licensed medical professional will apply a peeling solution on your skin. The acid then penetrates through the upper layers of your skin. When your peeling is complete, we will clean your skin and apply a moisturiser to intensely nourish your skin. With a light peel, you may need multiple sessions to get the desired results. On average, most of our peels take about 30 minutes.

What should i expect?

When Can I See The Results?

Each person has a natural rate of cellular turnover, which ranges between 28 and 40 days depending on skin health, gender, and age. For people who have a dysfunctional cellular turnover cycle, problems such as congested pores, acne, and dry skin are common. Exfoliating treatments like light to moderate chemical peels are often done as an essential part of skincare routine so that this natural cycle can be regulated.

Most often, you will notice the results within 7-10 days. A light peel will generally produce faster results, while a medium peel may take up to two weeks for the skin to fully recover from the treatment.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

A peel essentially prompts your body to shed skin cells more quickly to renew and revitalize your complexion. For many people, a peel treatment can complement the natural process of the body.

After a light chemical peel, treated skin will be a bit red, dry and mildly irritated — although these effects might be less noticeable with each repeated treatment. You can usually wear makeup the next day if you wish.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

A chemical peel works by essentially exfoliating various layers of the skin to achieve aesthetic concerns. There is a misconception that a peel treatment will immediately remove dead skin cells, but it will actually take several days for your results to develop after your treatment. A peel essentially prompts your body to shed skin cells more quickly to renew and revitalize your complexion. For many people, a peel treatment can complement the natural process of the body.

Why Are Exfoliation Treatments Important?

Each person has a natural rate of cellular turnover, which ranges between 28 and 40 days depending on skin health, gender, and age. For people who have a dysfunctional cellular turnover cycle, problems such as congested pores, acne, and dry or dull skin are common. Exfoliating treatments are an essential part of your skincare routine so that this natural cycle can be regulated.

When the natural cellular turnover cycle is regulated, this automatically regulates other elements of skin function, such as oil production. Furthermore, some acids used for peel treatments are designed to interact with skin cells to produce specific results that can control acne breakouts or stimulate collagen production from the epidermal layer.

The number of treatments required to achieve optimal results will depend mainly on the severity of your skin condition and the strength of the peel you are using. For people who have mild concerns, it may take up to three treatments to achieve optimal results.

Candidates who are ideal for this treatment include anyone who wants to address multiple superficial concerns at one time. Pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding, and people with certain skin conditions may not be eligible for this treatment. If you have taken Accutane in the last six months, you may need to wait several more months before you qualify for this treatment.

Your skin will be especially sensitive to the UV rays of the sun after a chemical peel so it’s very important to use a good quality sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and avoid direct sun exposure.

Unlike other more invasive treatments, there is no pain associate with this type of treatment. The most you will experience is a tingling sensation that most people do not mind.

Typically, waxing, and shaving isn’t recommended prior to treatment to ensure that you get the most out of the peel. Other than that, there are usually no other preparations that you need to do before having this treatment. If there are additional things to consider, one of licensed medical professionals will walk you through that during your consultation.

Yes, this type of treatment can help manage those who are having active acnes. It can help manage the amount of oil that the skin is producing and even prevent future breakouts, making this treatment ideal for those who are looking to manage their acne.

It is never recommended to attempt this type of treatment on your own as it can be extremely unsafe and cause skin damage. It is never advisable to attempt this treatment without consulting an expert due to risks for complications. Always choose a licensed professional medical expert for any type of medical treatment!
