How does Spravato® work?
Spravato works by targeting different chemicals in the brain than conventional antidepressants do.
Antidepressants increase levels of chemical messengers like dopamine and serotonin, which regulate mood. Spravato, on the other hand, increases a mood-enhancing neurotransmitter called glutamate, which in turn affects neuroplasticity, or the brain’s ability to form new neural pathways and “rewire.”
The Spravato® Treatment Process
Spravato is administered as a nasal spray under the supervision of a provider.
Treatment Frequency
Spravato is administered twice a week for the first 4 weeks. These first 8 sessions are known as the induction phase.
During Your Session
Each session lasts 2 hours. Put on your eye mask, listen to music and just let go. You’ll be closely monitored by our team on site to ensure your safety and well-being.
Ongoing Care
After the induction phase, weekly treatments are recommended for 4 weeks, followed by maintenance sessions as needed. We create a personalized schedule together tailored to you.
Insurance Coverage for Spravato®
If you are diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression and meet the following criteria, then insurance may cover your Spravato treatment if:
- You are currently taking an oral antidepressant.
- You have previously tried 2 antidepressants, without success.
We want to make things easy for you.
Our team reviews your insurance information to see if you are covered. If you’re eligible, we take care of the entire approval process. All you have to do is give us a call or schedule a consult.
