Steven has nearly 40 years of experience practicing primary care medicine, during which time he started clinical education and training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Mercy Hospital. Steven is actively involved in various clinical research and trials as a principal investigator and education with his professorship and teaching experience at Yale School of Medicine, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, UPMC, Carlow University, Duquesne University, West Chester University, and the Chatham University of Pittsburgh. At Altheda Medical Center, Steven oversees the clinical workflow and ensures quality healthcare delivery. Outside of the clinical setting, Steven enjoys gardening, culinary arts, and world travels.
Leslie has been a family physician in Pennsylvania for over 23 years. She moved to the state in 1994 after receiving her BS in Biology/Chemistry with honors from Keene State College in New Hampshire. She attended Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, completed a Scaife summer fellowship in Pittsburgh in addiction medicine, traveled to Uganda to practice hospice care, and achieved her medical degree with an Honorable Mention for the E. Harold Hinman Memorial Prize for extraordinary interest and accomplishment in family medicine. Upon graduation, she completed a 3-year residency in family medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital. Leslie has worked in the traditional outpatient office setting, urgent care, as well as in telemedicine most recently, seeing patients of all ages. She has enjoyed taking time to raise 2 children with her husband, a pediatrician, and spending time with her 100-year-old grandmother on many adventures. She enjoys adolescent medicine as well as travel, nature excursions, and forever learning new things.
Cheryl is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (subspecialty in Oncology) with 38 years of nursing experience throughout a variety of acute care and oncology settings. In 1998, Cheryl received her Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She has lectured nationally and locally on an extensive list of topics. Cheryl is a co-Investigator on numerous Novartis and Icagen studies for the treatment of Sickle Cell Anemia. She has received numerous honors throughout her career which includes Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse of the Year: (Western Pennsylvania Hospital), Primary Care Nurse Exemplar Award: (Shadyside Hospital) and Mamie O. Garland Award: (Chi Eta Phi Nursing Society). Cheryl is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society (Eta Chapter) and Society of Clinical Research Associates. Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys international world travel and spending quality family time with her sons and three grandchildren.
Madison was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, where her passion for healthcare blossomed early on. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation science, which laid the foundation for her future career. Before attending Chatham University for her master’s degree in physician assistant studies, Madison gained clinical experience working as a medical assistant. During her clinical rotations in PA school, she particularly enjoyed her time in plastic surgery, dermatology, and family medicine, where she developed a strong appreciation for patient-centered care and the diverse challenges of these specialties. As an advanced provider at Altheda, Madison is motivated by the company’s mission to enhance healthcare delivery by focusing on overall health, beauty, and wellness. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, fiance, and her dog, Alfie!
Dane is a Psychiatric Physician Assistant with several year’s experience in working in the outpatient and hospital/consultation setting, conducting psychiatric evaluations as well as follow-up medication management for those with ongoing mental health issues. He works with the entire spectrum of mental health including depression/anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, as well as dual diagnosis mental health with substance use disorders. While Dane sees all patients 18 and older, he also has worked in inpatient geropsychiatry seeing patients 55 and older helping to stabilize their acute mental health issues. Dane is an avid music lover and typically spends his free time either hiking or playing guitar.
Madison is currently pursuing her degrees in psychology. She has a strong passion for mental health and plans to become a therapist. Before joining Altheda, Madison worked at a physical therapy office as an aide and office assistant, interacting both hands on and administratively with patients. She is now excited to be a Healthcare Administrator at Altheda. Madison joined the company because she strongly believes in its mission and concept. She chose to work in the medical field because she deeply understands what it is like to be sick and have experienced all of the emotions and struggles one can face as a result. Madison was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at a young age. She has additionally watched close family members struggle with their health. A fun fact about Madison is she has fostered cats and kittens through Paws Across Pittsburgh for the past 4 years!
Larrex is a dedicated professional with a strong background in healthcare support, having worked as a prior authorization specialist, a new patient appointment setter, and a customer service specialist. Currently, he serves in a key role at Altheda, driven by a passion for making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives and ensuring smooth healthcare processes. His inspiration to join this field stems from a desire to provide accessible, efficient support to those navigating complex medical systems. Beyond work, Larrex enjoys an active lifestyle with hobbies such as cooking, running, weightlifting, playing drums, and dancing. He is also a proud fur parent to three wonderful dogs: a Chow Chow, a Shih Tzu, and a Maltese Mini Pinscher. These passions and responsibilities keep Larrex motivated, balanced, and continuously inspired in both my professional and personal life.
Anastasia is a certified clinical medical assistant at Altheda Medical Center. Her mission and goals for Altheda are to give patients a smooth and easy experience while receiving the proper care that they need. Anastasia is determined to make a change and make her community happy. She had previously worked as a home health aid and a certified medical assistant at Northside Christian Health Center. Anastasia has experience with rooming patients, performing vital signs, blood draws, EKG, injections, and more. Anastasia is an outgoing person and is always open-minded to expanding her education. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her loved ones. What made Anastasia interested in the medical field is her passion for helping others and always learning something new. Anastasia’s grandmother has been in the medical field for more than 15 years which provided tremendous inspiration to Anastasia.
Aleena is a Medical Assistant at Altheda Medical Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is now attending the University of Pittsburgh as a post-baccalaureate student. Previously, Aleena worked as a Medical Assistant at a pediatric facility in the orthopedic department and is a certified phlebotomy technician. Aleena is passionate about patients receiving quality healthcare—specifically underserved communities and pediatric patients. She strongly resonates with AMC’s mission to provide holistic and accessible healthcare. In the near future, Aleena’s goal is to become a Physician Assistant. She is open to learning and growing in all medical specialties! Outside of professional aspirations, Aleena enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to new cities.
Aaron Kim is a medical assistant at Altheda Medical Center and a student at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in microbiology with a minor in chemistry. He is also a researcher at the Gottschalk Lab, focusing on immune system pathways. With aspirations to become a cardiologist, Aaron is passionate about all areas of medical innovation. His volunteer work at a local hospital and dedication to serving patients with diverse needs led him to join Altheda. Outside of academics, Aaron enjoys playing soccer and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Srivatsa Bellamkonda is a medical assistant currently attending Washington and Jefferson College. With a strong background in biomedical informatics, neuroscience, and immunology research, he is eager to apply these skills in clinical settings. Previously, he volunteered as a wheelchair escort in hospital environments and now hopes to expand his involvement at Altheda Medical Center, from administrative roles at the front desk to triage assistance. He is particularly drawn to Altheda’s cutting-edge diagnostic tools, like digital ultrasound technology, which enables early detection of conditions and timely interventions. When not working, Srivatsa enjoys playing tennis for his college, hosting his football podcast, and exploring Pittsburgh’s streets and suburbs on long walks.
Mara is an undergraduate student enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh. She is majoring in neuroscience and is pursuing an undergraduate thesis at the Center for Ultrasound Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics. Her research studies interactions between a cutting-edge ultrasound therapeutic and the blood brain barrier as well as its relationship with microglia in the context of Alzheimer’s disease. At Altheda, Mara triages patients, runs laboratory tests, assists practitioners, and supports patients through compassionate care. She is inspired by the meaningful relationships she is building through Altheda, and hopes to pursue medical school to become a neurologist. Outside of school and work, Mara is involved in multiple music groups. She sings in an a cappella group called The Songburghs and recently joined a band as the lead singer!
Emily Coppeta, from Rochester, NY, is a junior in the Health Sciences program at Duquesne University, with plans to pursue a Physician Assistant Graduate program after graduation. She has experience working in a children and adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit at the University of Rochester and a background in customer service. Emily is excited to be part of Altheda’s Medical Assistant program, drawn to the organization’s mission and its innovative approach to accessible healthcare. Her passion for medicine, learning, and helping others drives her commitment to a future in healthcare. Outside of work and school, Emily enjoys spending time with loved ones and staying active through exercise.
Tasneem is a student at Penn State University (Greater Allegheny), majoring in Biobehavioral Health with a minor in Neuroscience. She volunteers at St. Clair Hospital as an information desk attendant, where she enjoys engaging with patients. Eager to take a more hands-on role in patient care, she joined Altheda as a Medical Assistant I. In this role, she performs clinical tasks such as triaging and taking patient vitals. Tasneem was drawn to Altheda for its emphasis on learning and skill development, as it allows her to interact directly with patients and contribute to their well-being. Passionate about medicine, Tasneem is committed to exploring new ways to support others’ health. She stays inspired by learning about the latest medical discoveries, which fuel her drive to pursue a career in healthcare. Outside of work and studies, Tasneem enjoys cooking, traveling, and watching cat videos!
Rayan is a medical assistant at Altheda and his inspiration for pursuing a career in healthcare stems from a strong desire to make a meaningful impact on individuals’ lives by improving their well-being and quality of life. From a young age, he has been motivated by helping those facing challenges that current medical knowledge has yet to solve. His passion has driven his commitment to research and studies, intending to contribute to discovering new cures, developing innovative treatments, and enhancing daily life for those in need. As a student at the University of Pittsburgh, he dedicates his free time to researching spinal surgery with a research group at UPMC, further solidifying his commitment to advancing medical knowledge he is particularly interested in promoting preventive care as a cornerstone of health, exploring groundbreaking healthcare solutions, and advocating for equal and accessible healthcare. His unwavering dedication inspires his ongoing efforts to expand his knowledge of medicine and find meaningful ways to assist those in need, shaping their vision for a future in healthcare.
Clara Kim is a first-generation student at University of Pittsburgh, studying Communication Science and Disorders with certificates of Conceptual Foundations of Medicine and Asian Studies. She intends on attending a physician assistant program upon completion of her Bachelor’s Degree. Clara’s work experience includes about 6 years in retirement and nursing home settings as a Dietary Aide and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). These work experiences, alongside her strong relationship with her grandmother, has inspired her to pursue a career in geriatric and communication health. Clara has joined Altheda’s clinical team as a Medical Assistant to further diversify her skill set within the medical field. She looks forward to serving as a figure of cultural concordance and advocating for quality care. Outside of her work and studies, Clara volunteers as an English tutor for Literacy Pittsburgh, enjoys spending time with friends and family, and enjoys exploring new areas of the city.
Nyah is a medical assistant at Altheda and currently an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh. She is majoring in Biological Sciences with minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience. She has previously volunteered at hospitals and worked as a CNA in a local nursing home. She is deeply interested in the medical field, specifically in dermatology and anesthesia, but has an open-mind when it comes to specific fields to practice. She was drawn to Altheda because of the wide encompassing approach to the medical field and the innovative technology it has to offer. Outside of work, Nyah loves running and is currently training for a marathon.
Ria Singh is an undergraduate pre-med student at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Biological Sciences with plans to pursue a career in primary care. She is currently involved in ophthalmology research on the Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) and has previous experience as an administrative assistant in a private healthcare practice. At Altheda, Ria looks forward to expanding her role by assisting with triage and administrative tasks while supporting both physicians and patients. She is inspired by Altheda’s innovative technology and commitment to meeting diverse clinical needs. Outside of work and school, Ria enjoys playing intramural soccer and cheering for the Steelers on Sundays.
Ingrid is a Medical Assistant at Altheda and attends the University of Pittsburgh, studying biological sciences and pursuing a medical degree. Her professional interests include gaining more knowledge in oncology and immunology, as her ultimate goal is to work in the field of biotechnology. However, Ingrid is curious about all things medicine-related! Ingrid is so eager to learn and work alongside colleagues at AMC. As a Medical Assistant, Ingrid takes patient vitals and triages them, preparing patients for their visit with the doctor. Outside of work, Ingrid loves to explore new places to eat.
Yaya Wang is a pre-medical undergraduate student studying at the University of Pittsburgh. Majoring in Neuroscience, Yaya has previous research experience in neurobiology but is currently involved in research projects investigating diagnostic tools for endometriosis. Within medicine, her interests include (but are not limited to) pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. As a medical assistant at Altheda, Yaya is excited to contribute to a holistic and patient-centered healthcare experience. Outside of academics and work, she enjoys volunteering through service club Strong Women, Strong Girls, where she mentors elementary students about strong female role models.
